About Music Makers

Fifth-grade students will have the opportunity to learn drumming techniques in greater depth along with Orff traditions to prepare for performances, but more importantly, for a lifetime of music-making.  A drumming ensemble is powerful and exciting to see and hear. Pink Elementary students at all levels participate in aspects of the World Music Drumming curriculum as well as activities based on the Orff Schulwerk philosophy. World Music Drumming is based on the oral/aural hand drumming traditions of West Africa, the Caribbean, and others combined with singing, moving, playing other instruments, and creating.  Orff Schulwerk is a structured, sequential development of knowledge and skills which encourages joyful participation, creativity, and personal musical growth from all participants employing folksongs and instrumental exploration and performance.

Music Makers meet on Fridays from 3:10-4:10 PM and perform at least twice a year. Interested students may see Mrs. Wester for details.
